Asana Vs. Clickup - Why I Switched to Asana!

Asana Vs. Clickup - Why I Switched to Asana by The Pink Ink. Are you an online business owner or small business owner looking for the best online business project management tool? Between designing products, coordinating with my team, marketing our products and providing great customer service - project management organization is key in my digital planner business!

Asana vs ClickUp: which one do you use? If you have a digital workflow, chances are you’ve used either one or both of these organizational powerhouses. Asana has been around longer (since 2008) and has evolved its project management features to rival any newcomers. With Asana, you can create project plans, coordinate tasks among team members, analyze the progress of your team members and automate simple processes to make life easier. ClickUp hasn’t been around as long but has gained positive reviews for its user-friendliness when it comes to organizing tasks, goal tracking, spreadsheet sharing and other project management features.

Whether you use Asana, ClickUp or any other project management tool, these platforms are lifesavers for anyone in the online business world. Between designing products, coordinating with your team and marketing your products as well as providing great customer service, organization is key to scale your business and move the needle. When you’re worried if you sent an important email or if a team member completed a key task, it’s hard for you to move forward with your projects with confidence. With a project management platform, you can work on your business and not get caught up in the small details each day. For me, having organization aids helps heaps in keeping sight of my goals and keeping it all straight.

My personal choice for project management is Asana and I’ll share why:

Point #1 Simpler platform + Improved

Asana used to be based on the list view, but their new updated version allows you to switch seamlessly between calendar, board and list view. When I’m looking at a project’s timeline, the calendar view is super helpful. That way, I can plan next steps and communicate with clients about when they can expect delivery.

When I want to see what my team members’ tasks are and how they’re progressing, the board view is best, allowing me to see who is keeping on top of things and who is falling behind and needs more support. This flexibility really helps me be able to get a quick view of a specific area of my project, saving me time and helping me work more efficiently. With this improved feature, it’s super easy to create any type of project and keep your focus.

Point #2 Learned how to create a system

A week ago, I invested in Louise Henry’s course Uplevel with Asana. It’s hands-down one of the best investments I ever made. She really opened my eyes to so many aspects of staying organized, including managing a remote team, setting goals, tracking sales and leads and so much more. With these new expert tips, I’m super excited to wake up every morning to tackle my Asana to-do list.

Being an online business owner, I know firsthand how hard it is to learn how to systematize, pre-plan, map out launches, course and products, not to mention managing multiple client projects. Uplevel with Asana takes care of all those details for you by offering 14 customized templates to use in Asana with a simple 1-click set-up.

Learning how to expertly use the tools meant to help you frees up so much more time and mental space, allowing me to focus much more of my energy on my digital planner business and earning passive income. Achieving greater productivity with Asana has been a game-changer.

Asana Free has many features that exceeds those offered by ClickUp’s free version, making it a more robust program for digital entrepreneurs who are just getting started. Asana’s free version gives you 1,000 tasks per team and unlimited teams as well as unlimited projects and file storage. You can collaborate with up to 15 team members and enjoy list view, board view or calendar view projects. It also integrates with over 100 apps, making it easy to incorporate other apps you use for your projects into their system.

Asana offers the following pricing options:

  • Basic- free

  • Premium- $10.99 per user per mo.

  • Business- $24.99 per user per mo.

ClickUp offers the following pricing options:

Point #4 Keep things organized when out of office

Planning some time off from work can be very daunting, especially when you’re in the middle of a project. And when you run an online business, when aren’t you in the middle of a project? It can be easy to feel like you left a bunch of loose ends behind when you have projects underway but just need to take a mini-break to keep your energy up.

Asana allows you to easily communicate your vacation time. That makes it easier for everyone on the team to plan around your absence without missing a beat in the project’s flow. Also, other team members can advise of their upcoming vacation plans, making it easy for you to coordinate tasks in advance, whether it’s assigning their work to another team member or moving back a launch date, everyone can easily communicate their schedules and you’ll be on top of all the moving parts of your project.

Point #5 Automate tasks

When you know you have recurring tasks on Asana, you can easily set it up so that you’re not constantly manually doing simple tasks. You can set things up to be done on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or biannual basis. Asana makes automation super easy and intuitive, so you don’t have to waste time repeating the same actions every day. Instead, you now have more time freed up to do what you love and be creative rather than be bogged down with repeat work.

What else do I use Asana for? Here’s a sneak peek into my top Asana projects…

  • Mapping out my big goals for the year and breaking them down into quarters
