How to Promote Your Digital Planner Business using Instagram Marketing

Instagram Marketing for a Digital Planner Business by The Pink Ink. Do you own a digital planner business and looking to enhance your online marketing to sell more digital products and digital planners? Here I share my best Instagram marketing tips …

If you have a digital planner business, then you know how hard it is to promote your business on social media. I mean, how do you promote something you can’t touch or feel?

However, social media is a powerful ally in marketing digital products. There are so many people who use social media to look for brands they love. The best part is that you can share not only still images, but also video and behind-the-scenes takes to connect with your followers and clients.

Why use Instagram to promote your digital planner business?

Instagram is an amazing marketing tool and is absolutely vital to those who have an online business.

As Instagram is image-based, you can share all your products and images that you can’t share on your website and really give people a visual show of your brand’s look and feel.

One of the best things about Instagram is that it has a global reach, which means you can gain a global audience. It’s also a place where you can build a community of like-minded people, people from all over the world

The best way to connect with your Instagram followers is to showcase behind-the-scenes videos and stills. Give your followers and clients a glimpse into your design process and your lifestyle so they can connect even more to your products and brand.

Here are four steps to getting started with Instagram marketing:

Step 1- Optimize your Instagram profile

  • Make your name searchable. Include your most important keyword in your Instagram name.

  • Add a bio explaining what you do and who you serve. You only have 150 words so choose them wisely. Make sure it’s clear what your business is all about and use keywords that relate to your brand to help those who are searching to find you easily.

  • Add your shop link and Call-to-Action so customers who are interested are easily directed to where they can buy.

  • Add your logo or photo to make your brand identifiable.

  • Add highlights to showcase your products. Don’t forget to include behind-the-scenes highlights, processes, FAQs, and reviews.

Step 2 - Create branded content & a branded feed

It’s important to have a cohesive branded feed. Having a feed with random images and styles can be confusing to customers and make it hard for them to figure out your niche and message. A branded feed builds trust with your customers. It makes you look professional, and it also makes your feed unique and memorable.

Action steps:

  • Choose 2-4 content pillars. Content pillars are the themes you will explore on your Instagram account. For example, if you’re a yoga business, you could explore different yoga postures, adjustments, yoga props, and the Sanskrit names for the postures. These would be the content pillars that you post about each week.

  • Select days of the week to publish each content pillar. This trains customers to look for new content that appeals to them on those days. If someone really likes your adjustments content, they’ll be excited to click on your account every Tuesday to see what new content you posted in this area. They know that you’ll be releasing something new on that day and it helps build anticipation.

  • Make it clear which ones are your brand colors and elements and use them consistently. Some people use consistent filters to help keep the same look and style. Is your brand serious, edgy, playful, for adults or for kids? Choose the colors and filters that match the style of your products.

  • Use hashtags. They help people who aren’t currently following you to find you more easily. You can add hashtags to your IG Stories as well.

  • Interact. Respond to comments, messages, and reactions- they’re opportunities to start a conversation with your followers and to deepen connection and loyalty.

Step - Create quality content

  • Use high-quality photos. Make sure that your photos are professional-looking. Instagram is a visual platform, so the quality of your images is very important.

  • Good lighting - The lighting for your photos should be professional so it really highlights the beauty of your products.

  • Well-designed graphics - There’s no point in using beautiful photos if the graphics are a mess. Choose 1-2 fonts that represent your brand and stick to those fonts. Also, since you’re a designer, it’s even more essential that your Instagram graphics be professional!

  • Write clear captions with product details and CTAs. Think about keywords again and start to create a language that is all your own for your brand. What kind of words appeal to your brand’s niche? Is your customer base conservative, young, alternative, casual or formal? Use language that reflects the lifestyle of the people who use your products. Describe products clearly so that customers know exactly what they’re looking at. And always use a CTA to steer customers in the right direction towards buying.

  • Start sharing stories daily - IG Stories is a very popular platform that you can use to promote upcoming products, short videos or to speak to your audience and give them a little bit of insight into your lifestyle and your design process and inspirations.

  • Utilize video on your feed- Reels, IG TV, and video posts are such great ways to engage followers. Customers really respond to videos as they’re able to see things in action and in a dynamic and real-life way as opposed to still photos. Videos can be behind-the-scenes or be instructional so you can show clients how to get the most out of your products.

Step 4 - Post consistently

The more you post, the easier it is to grow your account and be seen by more customers. As you post on consistent days, it will become easier to build an engaged, loyal community that loves your content.

I highly recommend using a scheduler to stay consistent with your posting. I really like using Later. It’s intuitive to use and helps me plan my posts a month ahead with their visual planner. If you’re pressed for time and can’t create new content, they help you find content for your brand to share. They have great analytics tools that help you see how effective your marketing is and what you need to tweak to get better engagement.

Final thoughts!

Promoting on Instagram helps build your brand’s reputation and gives you a platform to connect with your followers where you can promote your business or Etsy shop on Instagram. As you promote your business on social media, having a branded look, professional photos, and content that uses the right keywords and tone will help you sell your digital products.
