Custom Physical Planner Design for Jessica's Journals

In 2025, I had the privilege to collaborate with Jessica and Angelina – the sister duo behind Jessica’s Journals – to create their Ultimate Planner. The name is the perfect fit for everything we created together, because this 355-page physical planner has everything from life planning and meal planning to budgeting and productivity tools.

Let’s break down everything that happened behind the scenes to take this planner from an idea and make it a successful reality.

When Jessica and Angelina first reached out, they weren’t short on ideas. In fact, the opposite was true…

The sisters were constantly launching products, but design themes and color palettes didn’t carry over from one collection to the next. They were completely overwhelmed by the design process, and were looking for a solution that allows them to stay consistent and help their customers.

They said, “We're completely overwhelmed by the design process… We want everything consistent and are finding it very difficult to create ourselves. We hope we can work together to create functional products for our customers.”

And that’s how it all began.

Step 1: Strategy

Before I even opened a design program, I knew that what would help Jessica and Angelina the most wasn’t a specific planner design, it was strategy. We needed to create a consistent brand presence that could serve as a foundation for their business and future launches.

So before I even sent a single design draft, I sent them a creative direction presentation – backed by market research.

From there, I created a brand system designed specifically for physical products, including:

  • A core color palette

  • Collection color palettes to complement their brand’s core identity

  • Fonts chosen for both aesthetics and readability

  • Supporting logo marks

  • Custom illustrations and patterns

Throughout the process, I shared sketches, talked through decisions, and documented everything so Jessica and Angelina would always have something solid to come back to when creating new products.

This foundation equipped us with everything we needed to jumpstart phase 2 – designing the planner.

Step 2: Design

With a clear direction in place, we moved into designing what would become their core offering…

The Ultimate Planner was created as a physical planner rooted fully in the brand system we built together. It launched in two color variations chosen from their core color palette.

From the very first round of feedback, they shared: We are very pleased with the overall aesthetic.

This project also marked a first for me 🌷

While I’d designed digital planners before, this was my first client working exclusively with printable planners. As I designed layouts, built a hyperlinking strategy, and dated the planner, working with printable products quickly became one of my favorite kinds of work.

After 3 rounds of revisions to make sure everything was exactly as Jessica and Angelina wanted it, I packaged up all their files and sent them right to their inbox so they could be forwarded to the printer.

You can now shop this planner at Jessica’s Journal website »

But this wasn’t the end of the project. When they received the final files, they told me:

“It’s been a pleasure working with you… We would absolutely love to take up your VIP discount on another project with you.”

Step 3: Rebooking

Their positive feedback was more than just words.

As soon as we completed the Ultimate Planner, Jessica’s Journals rebooked. And this time to design additional products. You’ll have to follow the sisters on TikTok to know exactly when these products drop, because for now, they’re still a secret.

Each of these items are grounded in the brand essence we built together so that every future release will feel intentional and aligned.

Throughout the months that we worked together building these products, we focused on core branding principles instead of trends, so that their products will be timeless and they can have the confidence to sell them at any time of year.

And when we had finished this project, the sisters had this to say:

“Thank you so much, everything has been perfect and we have enjoyed working with you! We will absolutely reach out again in the future for any new projects we wish to create. Thank you for all of your beautiful work.”

Why This Work Matters

At the start, design felt overwhelming to Jessica and Angelina because they lacked consistency. This resulted in:

  • Every launch feeling chaotic

  • Every product felt like chasing trends

  • And once the foundation was in place, the process shifted

Decisions became easier. The brand had a clear direction. Designing meant scaling instead of throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks.

That shift is why working a professional who understands design and strategy is essential to walking away with confidence and a product you love.

This is the kind of work I do at The PinkInk® — creating clarity that supports growth long after the first project is finished.

Thinking About Your Own Products?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by design decisions, struggling to stay consistent, or tired of starting from scratch every time you launch — you’re not alone. I work with business owners who want their products to feel cohesive, thoughtful, and built for longevity.

If you’re ready to create products that work together and support your business as it grows, I’d love to explore what we could build together.
